KapitelChapter 04 · 4/12
Die Eule The Owl
With a look, and as large as the cat she would once have tried to catch after the usual searching from outside for something she did not know something she always seemed to miss and so it looked down from high above as if it had spotted danger, or easy prey, on the ground
And Manouk, small as she was, gathered her courage still not quite knowing what she would say it came out as if she meant to ask “hello?” and to her surprise the answer was only “huhuh” then again “huhuh, huhuh…”, then a clearing of the throat and at last “hello, …cough…cough… sorry. Frog in my throat.”
Manouk’s blue eyes had never been so wide though she did not quite know what this creature meant she made a face a little as if she had bitten into a lemon
The owl seemed first surprised, then worse: amused, with a shimmer of lemon-yellow eyes it was not yet clear whom, or what, Manouk had before her only that the owl knew things — that much seemed sure
“Have you lost your way, little mouse… eh… sorry, little child?” “Why are you not at home, and why do you run like the wind?”
“I do not know where I am, or where I am going, and I am afraid of these things I cannot see and do not understand.” “It is cold and dark here, and my legs are giving out and were already bitten as I ran through, without knowing. Will you tell me where and what this is, who I am, and where I go?”
