KapitelChapter 08 · 8/12
Am stillen See By the Still Lake
They sat by the water, quite still and quite near the ducks gliding by like slow dreams Manouk let her legs down into the cool and Glaux spoke of the light one keeps inside
“It does not lie behind the last tree not behind fear, not behind a dream it lives where you are quiet exactly where your heart still is.”
Manouk watched the moon on the lake. “Gautz — is the valley really so near?” “Glaux,” said the owl, “try it once more, yes? And the valley, little child, has been here a long while.”
The stones in her pocket, so small, grew warm, as if it were a sign as if they had always known where the path leads, and that one must.
